Depression is one of the most common mental disorders in the United States, affecting more than 16 million adults. Dr. Filipovic-Jewell uses individual approach to treat depression because of her years of experience in dealing with the many different forms of this disorder. Through your work together, you will gain an insight into pathways that led you to this experience and ways to manage it and hopefully prevent it in the future.

Variety of anxiety disorders can contribute to disruptive feelings of unease or worry, such as: Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic disorder, PTSD, OCD. As a highly skilled clinician, Dr. Filipovic-Jewell utilizes evidence based CBT treatment and/or medication management in her approach of treating anxiety disorders.  Skills that patients gain during the treatment will last the lifetime.


Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar disorder is a life-long condition, but with the right combination of therapy and medication patients can manage the chronic nature of symptoms and lead fulfilling and productive lives. With Dr. Filipovic-Jewell's care and monitoring, mood oscilations are quickly addressed and well maintained. Bipolar disorder can be well controlled condition, rather than debilitating disorder.


Women's Health

For many women, changes that can take place during and after reproductive years, can trigger emotional disregulation, often poorly tolerated. Dr. FIlipovic-Jewell has extensive experience treating women with premenstrual symptoms (PMDD), during or post-fertility treatments, postpartum mood or anxiety disorders or emotional difficulties during the menopause.

Eating disorders are complex illnesses that can affect both women and men, with various intensity. After a comprehensive evaluation, patients are selected as eligible for an outpatient treatment vs. patients with more severe clinical picture that are directed to inpatient treatment. Dr. FIlipovic-Jewell will collaborate her care with other specialties, often necessary to be involved in the treatment of this complex disorder.

Working on a realistic body image, self-worth and self-appreciation  are central areas that you will be working on.

Addiction is chronic and often debilitating condition. We use individually tailored therapy (at times involving family therapy and education) with the goal of patients gaining insight, support and utilizing healthier coping skills.  Treating underlying mood and anxiety disorders, if any and at times treating urges with medication is an option in treatment plan, as well. Between 50 and 70 million people in the United States have a sleep disorder, which ranges from insomnia to excessive daytime sleepiness. One third of adult Americans report sleeping less than 7 hours.

When sleep disorders aren’t caused by another condition, treatment normally involves a combination of medical treatment and lifestyle changes.

Dr. FIlipovic-Jewell helps couples recognize and resolve conflicts and improve their relationships. You will be provided with a safe environment to express yourself and discuss challenging issues that interfere with your relationship.

Some couples seek marriage counseling to strengthen their partnership and gain a better understanding of each other. Marriage counseling can also help couples who plan to get married. Premarital counseling can help couples achieve a deeper understanding of each other and iron out differences before marriage.
